In an era where money is tight, tuition bills are ever
increasing, and expectations are ever increasing many law school
administrators, not to mention students and potential students all want to get
the best return on their investment. For
law school libraries this often means proving their value to the academic
community in which they exist.
Unfortunately for library administrators there has been little in the
way of guidance on how to prove their value to school administrators who may
look to the library as an easy place to cut the budget from. Fortunately, the American Association of Law
Libraries has commissioned a study that hopes to quantify the services that
librarians provide to the law schools they serve and give us librarians some
much needed ammunition in the fight against budget cuts. The results of this study will be eagerly
anticipated many to be sure.
